Cousin, I want to thank you for your Facebook comment
“Y’all dressed like Freddy Kruger

My spouse and I were genuinely offended by the comment. We wondered why our photo compared to Freddy Kroger. We were going to respond with negative feedback, but as we pondered on our thoughts, I told him I would comment with a blog post.

As we reflected on the photo, I decided to take a closer look, and I felt it was time to be transparent about what is going on. The Facebook comment is a confirmation that my vision or goal for 2020 is to write my book.

Reflecting on April 4, 2017, the day my husband had his heart attack and was rushed into surgery to have a stent put in his heart to open up an artery blood vessel with a plaque blockage. Following this surgery, he began experiencing seizures and extremely high blood pressure, which resulted in practically daily evening trips to the emergency. This occurred for months, and he was prescribed several medications and referred to several specialists to try to find out what was causing the seizures. Then my husband was diagnosed with a peripheral vascular disease — a sign of fatty deposits and calcium buildup in the walls of the arteries (atherosclerosis). Risk factors include aging and smoking. As a result of this diagnosis, my husband suffers from extreme leg pains and the inability to walk for long distances. He also has COPD lung disease that blocks airflow and makes it difficult to breathe.

Since this has happened, my husband has become extremely unhappy and suffers extreme anxiety and weight loss (as you can see from the photo). He has lost 55 pounds and will be having another surgery on January 15, 2020, to have another stent put in his stomach to open another blocked artery.

As for myself, this photo reflects the pain of watching and going through this journey with my husband.I’m praying for a positive solution to help him gain back his good health.

So yes, that explains our photo, “Looking like Freddy Kruger.”
