1 Timothy 6:17 I Value More Than Earthly Possession
17 As for the rich in this present world, instruct them not to be conceited and arrogant, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

What is your first thought when you see the wordRICH?”

Many of us may have this first, careless thought: “I’m not rich.” By some examples it may be justified – some of us are not rich. We have to view our budgets, check our accounts, cut back on some expenses, look for bargains, etc. So we conclude we are not rich.

Instruct those who are rich in this modern world not to be self-important nor to put their hope in money, which is so problematic, but to put their hope in God, who will give us everything for our happiness.

Living rich in this world is different from being rich towards God. Nothing is more unpredictable than earthly wealth. Those who are rich need see that God gives them their riches. For many have riches, but enjoy them crudely, not having a heart to use them beneficially.

Assume you live just above “poverty level” as unpredictably defined in the United States. In the matter of agreement with God’s will – you consider yourself “rich” in your view of 1 Tim. 6:17. Accordingly, you bypass pride; you set your hope on God, you do good, you are rich in good works, charitable with a firm Love of life.

Display faith in God by fruits of LOVE, let us lay hold upon eternal life. When the self-indulgent, greedy, and wicked around, lift up their eyes in suffering and stop opposing the truthfulness of the WORD.

Those who promote reason above faith, are in danger of leaving the faith. Grace includes all that is good, and grace is an earnest, a beginning of glory; wherever God gives grace, he will give glory.

I Pray:
Faithful and loving God, I am so thankful that you are the one in whom I can find my identity, values, hope, security, and future. You have blessed me in so many ways, but please help as I’m working to put my trust in you and not in earthly wealth or possessions. To you belong all glory and praise, now and forever. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
