COMMUNICATION IS LIKE SALT

What we say and how we say it, makes a difference. Taking control of our conversation is so important that the Bible says, Paul’s words are clear: we are to be people who reach out to, minister to and encourage others with our words. Think about your own life. Think about how words have changed you,

Colossians 4:6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
6 Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and charming), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].

Salt has been used as a seasoning to give flavor to foods and as a preservative to prevent meat from spoiling. Over the years, it is found in many households and serve many uses from cooking, cleaning, health, and beauty. Daily household tips for using salt in everyday tasks include stain removal and odor elimination.

Salt can do the same for our communication. For our conversation to be kind and mature like “salt,” our words should express tolerance, thankfulness, and kindness. Finding ways to spread LOVE to others in spite of their weaknesses is a way to show understanding rather than judgment.

Displeasure comes immediately; Workers whine about their bosses, and supervisors complain about their employees. We fuss if we get behind someone going too slowly, and we complain if someone rides too closely behind us, making us feel hurried. Complaining is only natural when we are ill or hurts or irritated or facing loss.

But God calls us to more: By displaying tolerance rather than judgment, thankfulness rather than a complaint, and kindness rather than bitterness, we exhibit the grace that God spread to us in Christ. When we make adjustments for the faults of others, we replace the ugly blemishes of opinion and resentment with the beauty of compassion and forgiveness.

I Pray
Devoted Father my speech is not always kind or seasoned with salt. By Your Spirit, I pray that the words of my mouth and the reflection of my heart is always pleasant to you so that I only say that which is pleasing to You, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN

How can you permit God to season your speech with love today?
