My Spiritual Walk is like a roller coaster ride—up and down all the time. Sometimes I feel close to God, but sometimes doubt has a way of taking control of my mind. Why does this happen? I suspect many readers can identify with me–and every believer experiences this to some extent. But God doesn’t want our relationship with Him to be this way, and it can be different.

What’s the problem? One reason may be that we are listening to what our feelings are telling us, rather than to God’s Biblical written Word. Emotions aren’t wrong; God gave them to us, and they are an essential part of our characters. But feelings change, and our beliefs go up and down. And if our faith is based mainly on our ideas, our faith will go up and down also.

What’s the answer? The answer for me is to have that personal spiritual relationship with God.

Hebrews 12:2 “keep your eyes on Christ”. Make sure of your commitment to Him; if you’ve never invited Him into your life, do so today. Then let His WORD, the Bible, become your daily companion. Take time to pray also, not just for yourself but for others.

The Bible is the master-key to our spiritual growth as a believer. It provides and sustains our spiritual life because it is alive. Also, meditation is vital in guiding our minds to hear God. I have learned to sit back and observe and breathe the things of nature around me; the fresh air reveals wonders.

Hebrews 4:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)

12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

I Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of faith. Thank You for the great men and women of the past who set an excellent example for me to follow. When times get tough, and I struggle to see You in my circumstances, draw me back to You and Your Word. Lift my eyes to You, the One from whom my help comes.

Strengthen me, Lord, from the inside out and enable me through the power of Your Holy Spirit to run my race with endurance. Give me the mind of Christ and protect me from the lies of the evil one who prowls around like a roaring lion seeking to discourage and derail me from the path You have for me. When I want to give up, fill me with Your Hope and point me to Your Truth. Lord, I thank You that with You nothing is impossible and that I can do all things through You who strengthens me. I ask this all in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
